Practice Policies & FAQ

How do I become a patient?

Please fill out the New Patient Form (found under the New Patients tab) with all the requested information. I will get back to you within 7 business days or sooner to ask questions if needed and begin the intake process.

What patient populations do you specialize in? And, who may not be a good fit?

I treat children (8+), adolescents, and adults with a variety of mental health conditions. I do not have expertise in active eating disorders, Dementia or other memory-related disorders. I treat patients with a history of substance use disorders but require all patients to have 6 months of sobriety and be actively engaged in their recovery. To accurately diagnose, evaluate symptoms, and prescribe medication safely, sobriety is needed. I do not participate in medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

Crisis Management

As a small private practice, I do not have the capacity to provide crisis management. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a mental health emergency, including suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, or a change in mental status, please call 911, 988 (National Suicide Lifeline), or proceed to your nearest emergency room. Depending on your geographical location, you can also contact Psychiatric Emergency Service.

Self-Pay Rates:

$150 per 30-minute service, $300 per 60-minute service

What Insurances Are Accepted?

  • In-Network for BCBS, Indemnity, Medicare HMO Blue, Medicare PPO Blue, HPHC, Tufts, and Optum Commercial plans.

  • If you have a PPO plan you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for appointments. If you’d like to see if you’re eligible for out-of-network reimbursement, please contact your insurance company’s Member Services line prior to booking an appointment with me. Here are helpful questions to ask them:

    • Am I eligible for out-of-network reimbursement for medication management and psychotherapy, including via telehealth?
    • What percentage will be covered by the insurance company?
    • Do I have a deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance? If so, when does my deductible reset?
    • How many sessions per calendar year are covered?
    • What is the procedure for requesting reimbursement?

If you use out-of-network benefits, I’ll provide you a monthly superbill upon request which you’ll send to your insurance company so they can reimburse you for a portion of the fee based on your benefit schedule. Please note that payment for services is expected to be made at the time of each appointment and I don’t file insurance claims for clients.

What are my responsibilities as a patient?

As a patient of Harmony Mental Health, you are the most important member of your treatment team. As such, it is essential that you arrive on time for appointments, are open and honest in sessions, and that you are willing to attend follow-up appointments at the intervals recommended by your provider. In addition, it is important that you meet your financial obligations to the practice.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. All cancellations/reschedules must occur at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation fee. I understand that emergencies do occur, so we are able to waive this fee once per year. Frequent cancellations/missed appointments may result in termination of the therapeutic relationship and discharge from the practice.

Clinical Boundaries and Communication

We will meet during your scheduled session. Please make every effort to request refills, documentation, or express other needs during your appointment time, or allow 48 hours if requesting via messaging. Though I check messages outside of business hours, any non-urgent medical questions, refills, or scheduling needs will be addressed during normal business hours. Please note that refills requested after noontime on Fridays will be addressed the following Monday.

Mutual Respect and Diversity

As a trauma-informed provider, I value inclusivity and diversity and expect kindness and mutual respect in all interactions. Harmony Mental Health has a zero-tolerance policy for aggression, violence, or disrespect toward staff or patients. Any violation of this policy will result in discharge from the practice.

Appointment Length

Intake appointments typically are 60 minutes but extra time may be scheduled as appropriate. Follow-up appointments are typically 20-30 minutes, but this may vary based on personal preference, symptom acuity, and recommended treatment plan. I encourage in-depth discussion of your current lifestyle, goals, and struggles so that you may get the best possible care. Appointments are usually scheduled every 2-3 weeks upon beginning treatment, but this interval extends to a maximum of 4 months.
